To Winston, From Sluggo

This is a special shout out to my man Winston, from your boy Sluggo.

First of all,Wilma says thanks for the word up on the Halloween party. We are all gettin' real excited about it.
Secondly, dude, this business about lookin' like a pig.
As far as I see, the answer is no. No, you do not look like a pig. But that is just my opinion. Apparently. these humans have some kind of association between pigs and pugs.
Check this...

Halloween '08
3 little pigs

Does this look like an excited pug?
nooooooo
I finally got on board, but I was not pumped

So, this is for all you delusional humans out there who think pugs are like pigs...

True pigs

That was from Mom and Dad's trip The Big E ( Eastern States Exposition) last week.

You think they were trying to gain intel to perfect the pig suit?

I'm doomed.

Send help, Winston

Again...

pig...

pug...

Wilma's Wednesday Words of Wisdom ~ Reader Participation Edition

Hi peoples! I can't believe it's Wednesday already.
For this weeks wisdom I was planning on continuing to address your questions.
As I perused some of your submissions for a question I could lend my wisdom to, I came across my friend Toby Moses' from over at The Slimmer Pugs query.

How do you keep the mamas home? They've been off doing lots of things...which Isa just don't likes.

-Toby Moses

This one intrigued me.
You see as recently as last week, I though I had been doing a pretty good job at this.

I even commented to him that I believed I could help.
Then, this week, everything changed.

And we are none too happy about it!

Everyday this week so far, Mom has woken us up out of a sweet comfortable sleep, dragged us out into the cool wet grass bleary eyed, to do business, fed us, and then taken off all day long!

This is very jarring, and disruptive to our usual routine.
Normally, we get to sleep til we wake up, stretch, wipe the sleep out of our eyes and enjoy a nice leisurely breakfast.
Not only is she taking off on us, leaving us to fend for ourselves, virtually helpless, but, she also has not been giving me my required blog labor.
I have been keeping up with all of you, but I haven't been able to comment as much as I like.
In addition, not enough posts! I mean, I've got material people, don't you worry about that. She just hasn't had enough time.
Something about vet bills, acupuncture, supplements, toys, kibble, treats, and sock monkey beds
Well, that's just bull.
I'm not feeling it. Figure out something else!
So, my friends, therein lies my problem.
I thought I had the answer to this one.
I thought I had it licked.
I thought everything was all set.
I am not so sure anymore.
I need your help this week.
What do you all do to keep your people around catering to you as much as possible?
This needing to work more hours nonsense is just not working for me!
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Not only by me, Brigitte and Sluggo, but also by Toby Moses.

Before Things Got Ugly

As you may have heard, here in New England we're in the midst of a heat wave.
Weather like this, to put it bluntly, sucks for pugs.

Mom decided to make us a giant ice cube. How cool (pun intended) is that?!

We were all very excited, as we like to chew a cube from time to time.

But the shine quickly wore off for Brigitte and I.
Sluggo, however, was very enthusiastic right out of the gate.

He just kept licking and licking,
Then I noticed something...
Hey Brigitte get over here

There was treats inside!!!

As soon as I realized that, it was game on.
You won't see any more pictures of the event, because, let's just say Mom had to put down the camera to deal with ferocious beasts.

How about you guys?
Do you like to share?
Even if there is enough for everyone, is that ok with you?

The Check Up

Where we goin' Ma?

Lemme see, lemme see,c'mon move Sluggo

Why don't you guys just chill out and enjoy the ride?

I know where we are going, to the vet. Me and Sluggo are having our annual exam. Brigitte's just along for the ride

Really Mom?

Ah hahahahahahaha no shots for me

Hmff . That's not fair

So, we got to get seen by our new vet for the first time today.I knew I would like her 'cuz we met her at her open house, where she gave us lots of rubs and treats. I got an excellent bill of health with my nine year old self. Props to Britte and Sluggo who got really upset when they were trying to take my blood away.
Then it was Sluggo's turn. He did ok too. He needed his ear flushed out and the doc found a couple odd things. She said he had a prolapsed urethra and one of his pupils was sluggish. Pretty wierd huh? I told the vet his whole self is sluggish, he's Sluggo! Then she explained that one of his orbs' black spots reacts slow to a bright light. She told Mom just to keep an orb on his pee hole and she said he checked out fine neurolog...some long word I don't know. So maybe that's just how his orb is. Returning the favor, I yelled at the vet when they were taking his blood away. She just laughed and said I was cute. Well duh, I know I'm cute, I want you to stop poking my man.
Over all it was a good day cuz I got the Mom to spend lots of money. Now it's off to our accupuncture today. Mom said something about eating alot of  beans and pasta next week.Whatever, just keep the premium kibble coming.
Anybody out there have any experience about this prolapsed pee hole thing? Even though the vet told her not to , she's insisting on worrying about her little Sluggy Bee.

Sluggo's Nemesis

Just like Brigitte has a girlfriend on the other side of the fence, Sluggo's arch nemesis lives behind the other fence in our yard. Sluggo goes nuts every time he hears this guy barking. They have never met mug to mug (and frankly, they won't 'cuz that guy is kind of a d*ck) but whenever he goes outside and starts barking Sluggo starts acting all tough. If we are all out at the same time, Sluggo starts going into fits at the fence. It might be kinda charming, if I didn't know that Sluggo is really a big wimp.

Check out this display...

Note me and Brigitte in the background shouting out orders. We never leftthe comfort of our bed.

Note: Mom promises not to post any more videos until she figures out what the h*ll she's doing. For whatever reason, she cant get rid of the still of Sluggy. Whatever, hire a pro.

A Saturday of Socializing

Good Day Everyone,
It sure is cold out here in the valley. That's why Mom put our winter jackets on us yesterday before we went out galavanting. My social calander was pretty full, that's what happens when you have such a loyal following. We started out going to this party they throw for me every month or so. They call it a pug meetup, I call it Wilma holds court. Pretty much what happens is that pugs and their people from all over the land come together, to mix, mingle and gaze upon me. We had a group of about 40 pugs and their people. Sluggos foster mom Samantha organizes it for me. Her pug Murphy and I go way back. We met at a parade I marched in back in '03. I really appreciate all the effort Sam puts into getting my people together for me. The group collects monies and they are donated to Curly Tail Pug Rescue (thats where Sluggo came from). I feel good about that. Mom took some pictures at the meetup, but as you can imagine, it's pretty hard to capture a good shot of so many crazy furballs running around. So they are a little blurry. There's Briggite taking cover under a chair. She gets overwhelmed at all the commotion sometimes. She prefers the people to their pugs and likes to go around to her favorite folks for a visit. One of her all time favorites was there yesterday and she gave her like a million kisses. Which really ticked off the Mom and Dad.Cuz if I hadn't mentioned, Brigitte is the stingiest when it comes to giving kisses. It's a whole big thing. When Mom or Dad try and get one she'll turn her head and issue the cheek, or give a fake air kiss. She gives more to Mom than Dad, but not like this, she was practically slobbering all over Emmet's Moms face.
Now there isn't any decent pictures of Sluggo at the meetup because he was to busy clinging to Mom the whole time. What can I say?  Sluggo has issues. One of those is that he only likes to walk on particular surfaces. Cold shiny slippery cement is not one of them. He'll venture off for some mingling, but for very short stints. He's like Brigitte, he prefers a lap. So if he can manage to get a few feet away, he'll leap into another guests lap. People love him, he's very charming. I find it a little wimpy, that's why I only string him along without making a real commitment. I need a manly pug to help rule my kingdom.
Next, we went to Grammy and Grampys house. I always love going there, I get lots and lots of affection and they even have special beds for me there. Mom and Dad had lunch. All we got was some water. That kinda made me mad, but then Mom and Dad took Sluggo to visit his friend Oscar the silky terrier and his new baby bro Max the golden retriever. Brigitte and I stayed behind and chilled out with the Grandparents. We really appreciated that.  From there we came home and relaxed for the evening. We needed to rest up for today, when we're going to my Great Grammys house. I can't wait, cuz Uncle Jimmy always gives us a whole plate of ham or turkey. I love Uncle Jimmy.
