It's That Time of Year Again

The time of year when Mom starts getting crazy notions about dressing us up in some kind of get up and marching us down the street in the Park Road Parade!

I really don't mind, because we get to see lots of people and pugs, and everyone fawns all over us. As they should. I am going to share pictures of us from yesterday's parade, but that was not the end of our eventful day. I will save that for later!

When we first arrived, we met Bella and Wally. Bella is just a little spitfire at 2 years old. Wally made fast friends with Brigitte so that he could share her wagon.

Then it was off to meet up with everyone dressed as, you guessed it, minions.

Which is really quite ironic, since...well, I don't need to explain to you guys.

There was a pretty butterfly,

and a very festive pug.

There were a couple of cows, and a gentleman in a tie.

There was Pooh, and Eeyore, a monkey and a fish, but lets face it folks, the main attraction was us! The minions.

Sluggo made himself a girlfriend, while I checked out the float. 

Brigitte reluctantly rode on the float, due to her lame leg and such. (It ain't easy getting old)

But I just had to be down with my people.

Some kid tried to take Brigitte for a ride!

We won the costume contest!!! That means Mom and Dad will get us prime rib from the Corner Pug with the prize money!

It was a great morning, and we were pooped on the way home.

We figured it would be a day of resting on our laurels, so imaging our surprise when Mom left and came back a little later with these two!!!

No, you are not seeing double. We now have 2 guests at The Pug Rest Inn.

Meet Zoro and Maggie.

 They are a bonded pair of pugs ages 7 and 5. We are still getting to know them. They are quite attractive, and sweet too. I don't think it will be long before there is a a vacancy sign up again.

So, you guys don't even know about Penny, which is so wrong on many levels. I am going to force Mom (I have my ways) to write a post about her next.

The Rumors are True, I Was Parade Marshal!

What's that Brigitte? Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman was the parade marshal?! I don't think so!

Was she the only one up on the back of the float (read pick up truck) waving at thousands of fans? Uh, no.

Were the paparazzi snapping photos of her, along with children of all ages oohing and aaahing?

I didn't see it.

So, yeah, we were all feeling pretty good on Saturday, and had been suffering from some serious cabin fever after all the quarantines, and feeling mopey.

The annual Park Road Parade
was this past Saturday, and we had been planning our costumes for months! There was no way we were missing it, not even if was pouring rain! Which it pretty much was right up to march time.
However, the skies cleared and the rain stopped just in time for The Wizard of Oz pugs to take center stage!

Kinda, sorta clockwise from left to right ~ Brigitte woo, woo, wooing as Glenda the Good Witch, Moi, as none other than Dorothy, who else? Duke (Brigitte's bf as the Tin Man, Max, Murphy and Dukes foster bro as Toto. Murphy as the Scarecrow, and naturally we have Sluggo "playing the part" of the Cowardly Lion.

We had loads of fun, and we won the costume contest hands down!

Her Momma was a foster failure after she was brought to her animal hospital after an accident to be, well,  you know. She was a real spit fire.

After, we got to go the The Corner Pug for lunch and celebrate with our prize winnings!

We all had a super fun time, and can't wait to do it again. This weekend is the PRONE Pug Social. We are hoping to make it to that too.

Oh, and by the way, is anyone getting some lame message about filling up you free space on Picassa? I want to make my Dorothy picture my header, and Google wants me to pay for a membership for more space! What's up with that?!

You've Got an Open Invitation

It's official! The Sunflower Girls are hosting a Halloween Party. Everybody is invited!

Come one, come all.

Boys, girls, dogs, cats. We are going to have a blast.

All you need to do if you are coming, is to e-mail a picture of yourself to Mom in your Halloween costume. (I know some of you are not into dressing up. I happen to live with someone who feels that way). So, it's OK you may still attend the party. Just send any picture.

I'd like to have a costume contest, but I don't know what the rules or the prize will be.

Suggestions welcome ladies!!!

I do have something for one of you who may not have a costume yet.

Number one

Sluggo hates it.

Number two

It's too small.

Mom kinda knew it would be, but it was cheap, and she had to try.

So, if there are any of those tiny pugs or small dogs weighing between 8-12 lbs, let us know, and Mom will send it to you .


One last thing.
I reminded Mom that we haven't had a Sunflower Spotlight in like 2 months. Remember those? We would nominate, and then vote for someone for us to highlight on our blogs.
So, I will be considering some nominees, and I  ask you to also give it some thought.What do you think about taking it outside the club? We can recognise greatness anywhere. Let's honor a fellow blogger.It could be for doing something special, it could be to give someone a lift, could be just because.

Today was one of my favorite days of the year.The day of the Park Road Parade.

It was our 5th time marching with all the local pugs for The Corner Pug restaurant..

The first year we marched, I met my beloved Murphy. He couldn't go today, but, he came over to visit me this afternoon.

I will tell you all about that in another post!

So, as you can see, I was dressed up as, what else? A sunflower.

So was Brigitte!

We weren't the only flowers in the parade.

My Mom left the camera on the counter, and only had her iphone with her to take pictures.

While we girls were having the time of our lives, there was someone there that wasn't really diggin' it.

Mom and Dad didn't want to admit it. But based on his behavior in the 3 parades he has attended in the past,

Sluggo is no fan of costumes, or crowds.

We didn't let the little baby be a buzz kill though, we just soaked up the love.

What a great time, we were totally wiped out when we got home..

So we rested up for our visit.
