Grammy Guest Blogs ~ The Family Newsletter

Wait. wait, STOP!!!
I know what you are thinking..."Oh, no. Not one of those obnoxious, self absorbed, we are so much better than you holiday newsletters" "mark as read" Don't do it! I promise, this one is different. This one is anticipated with great excitement year after year. Why? you may ask. Well, I'll tell you why. First, it is written by my Grammy. My very smart, funny, talented, beautiful and generous Grammy. (that oughtta garner me a few extra treats next visit, eh Grammy?) Second, it is all about the family pets. Us pugs and my kitty cousins Lucie and Zelda, who live with my also very talented, beautiful, funny, generous auntie (get that auntie? more extra treats) These attributes run in our whole family (that's for everyone else, I have set myself up right for the holiday visits)

You see, every year, Grammy sends out this newsletter with all the Christmas cards. It is always so much fun to read, I asked her if this year I could share it with all my bloggy friends. She graciously agreed. So, without further adieu, I give you...

Jingle All the Way

Preparing their case

I am Zelda, hear me roar

Too much catnip?

“The time has come” our Zelda said “to talk of many things. Of how we were neglected and of cabbages and kings. And where the ‘el this year has gone and whether pugs have wings. We need to tell the story of our trav’ling parents dear. Who left us with a sitter many times throughout the year. First they went to Philly for a weekend and a steak. A few days only they were gone and that much we could take. Then Mom and Dad lived dangerous and went upon a cruise. To beautiful Alaska land of glaciers, bears and booze. The camera kept on snapping so much beauty did they see. But not a moose or bear appeared, not even Sarah P.! And once again the sitter came, they were in touch by phone. She gave them good reports on us although we really moaned. So they came home again for just a short while it would seem—then the bags were packed again, they went to New Orleans! And after that the Diva to convention she did go. Now we need to get revenge, our talons we will show. In a courtroom Kangaroo the fur will start to flying; Puss In Boots will represent us and he won’t be lying. No kitty corners will he cut to let the judges hear just how our parents drove us to addiction will be clear. Left to our own devices we got into catnip trouble. We are in withdrawal now and they are on the bubble. So Mom and Dad for your defense call 1-800-SHYSTER. It will cost you many bucks for someone who is feistier. Our feline expert witness says the case is cat and dried. Unless we’re forced to settle by encouraging a bribe. We can be had by fluffy pillows and some tasty treats. And always when you leave the couch we need to take your seats. Then peace can reign in Gotham on the street of Riverside. Where kittens rule and parents go along just for the ride!

Now for pug stuff, Wilma said, well I don’t want to brag. But our poor cousins stayed at home while we went on a jag. Our Mom and Dad brought us along to sand dunes in Cape Cod. In P’town we were quite a hit with Sluggo’s awesome bod! Folks with other little dogs would stop us on our walks. They ooohed and aaahed so cute were we and spoiled us with that talk. We scored some puppacinos and some very tasty treats. Our friends from Vegas spoiled us too by sneaking us some meat. Then back to Beacon Falls we went and I began to blog. I write some words and give advice to pugs who like to log. On Wednesday Words of Wisdom well I am the biggest hit. Slug and Britte contribute but depend on me for wit. Also I can rat them out when they have been quite bad. Like when the monkey bed was chewed and Mommy acted mad. Who knew there were so many pugs just waiting for advice. They send me notes, I win awards it really is quite nice. I and Brigitte now have met some handsome dogs we love; but sometimes Sluggo barges in and gives those guys a shove. ‘Cause he’s in love with Wilma but we aren’t really sure. The moves upon our boyfriends are entirely so pure. Mom made us costumes for our clubs and then for Halloween; Sluggo was a pumpkin head and I, a fairy queen! And now I know you’re wondering how this year’s garden fared. Because we moved from Hamden Dad, the gard’ner, was prepared. The veggies were abundant and asparagus so sweet. Tomatoes named Hungarian hearts could surely not be beat. And all you vampires out there waiting for a tasty neck. You shouldn’t stop at our house we have garlic by the peck! So check our blog and you will find adventures never fear. And while you’re at it have a happy 2012 next year!

On the newsletter, there are mucho pictures of us here. But it was a hassle to post them and you already know how amazingly cute we are. Now you can see, our feline side is just as great!

We hope you have a great weekend! Thanks Grammy!

Wisdom Suspended for This Week in the Interest of Saving Time

I don't know about you guys, but I am getting a little sick of hearing about how busy the humans are. But since I depend on her to help me post, I guess I have no choice but to take what I can get. I will ask if anyone has any good ideas for retaliation.
Either way, here are a couple of really cute pictures of Brigitte. She is quite photogenic.

Sitting at Dad's feet

Her peaceful gaze

More deep thoughts

A little something we did on one our iPad apps called hope poster

Another fun app called FaceReplace.

Ok peeps, we out.

Thank Goodness for CSN! At Least I Know Someone Cares about my Welfare.

Hello all my people. You are NOT going to believe what I was subjected to this morning. Frankly, I'm having a hard time believing it myself. There I was, snug in my cozy comfy warm and toasty bed, dreaming away of my beloved Murphy and pizza crust, when suddenly.... I was ripped out of bed, thrown out into the cold, dark and snowy backyard, and given about ten seconds to do my business. A meager bowl of kibble was hastily thrown down on the floor, and before I could say WTF, eye drops were sprayed into my eyes and out the door they went.

Not only did they leave at the a$$ crack of dawn in the dark of night, but nary an ember of warmth from my fire! Really? This is not what those poor excuses for parents were hired to do. I require a parent to stay in the bed until the sun comes out, for one. I mean, it's not normal, leaving the house when it is still dark out. Then, to just put me out, in the first flakes of winter without even photographic documentation for posterity? That chance will not come around again. Pictures of me in the second snow fall of the year are meaningless. I am sorry for you all that you had to miss it. Mom muttered something about an early shift. I am NOT interested in her lame excuses. Do your job, or much like executive Sluggo, I will be forced to replace you. Don't think I won't do it.

Anyway, back to my friends at CSN Last month they contacted me about maybe doing another giveaway or review for them. I chose to do a review this time. Thank goodness I had the foresight to check out one of their K&H warming dog beds.

I was very excited to receive the package in the mail. I ordered the medium size, which fits one normal pug plus one needy pug quite nicely.

Although Brigitte was the first to check it out.

I a$$Ed her out pretty quick.

Then Sluggo came along to check things out.

What is great about this bed, is that it is made from a material that reflects the heat from your body back to you. This is handy, when your humans leave you in the dead of winter to fend for yourself. It is also good for certain young pugs who can't be trusted not to chew the stuffing out of random items. We would never be able to use one of those electric warming beds. Too unsafe.

The bed comes in bigger sizes, so we could have gotten one to fit us all, but this one fits perfectly in the kitchen where the ice cold floors are. But we would definitely get one of the larger sizes next time.

It is also made of a super soft velour material in two pretty colors. We chose green and brown, but they have blue also. We haven't had to wash it yet, but it doesn't stink of pug, which is a good sign after almost a month of use. It does look sturdy and we think it will hold up fine to a wash.

So, if you are abused and neglected by your parents like we are, maybe you could steal a credit card and go over to CSN stores and do some shopping.

Sluggo Calls an Emergency Meeting of his Board of Directors

I suppose you are all wondering why I've gathered you here today.

It's no secret that in the current economic climate, the company has been struggling to keep afloat.

Gentlemen, this quarters numbers do not look good.
I am afraid we are going to have to do a re-org. I have decided to take on a young go getter from out west in Colorado. He comes highly recommended from one of my business partners Emmett

This means I am going to have to make room for the new guy

This hasn't been an easy decision, but I am going to be forced to eviscerate one of you, and tear the stuffing out of you, squeaker and all.

Of course, there will be a generous severance package, and human resources can help guide you in signing up for Cobra.

I'm sorry, Mr Meyer, Oscar, You're fired!

Gentlemen, allow me to introduce, Mr. Sock Monkey

Flashback Friday ~ A Retrospective

Hi everybody, we just remembered that we do have some older photos stored at Snapfish. So here are a few shots of us pre Sluggo, and when he first arrived on the scene. Enjoy!

Brigitte and I getting ready to go out. We like to call her Mrs Bambridge when she wears this coat. She reminds Mom of a nosy old neighbor from her childhood.

Here I am perched on the antique fainting couch. I am about 2 years old here. I know it is a pre Sluggo picture because when he came along, he chewed a giant hole in it. Nana was none too happy about that, it was a gift to Mom and Dad when they bought their first house. Don't I look good? I have been a regal pug from the start.

Here's Brigitte, laying in Mom's arms. She's has always been such a suck up.

Me again, with my fancy scarf. This was when we first started going to meet ups. Mom put scarfs on us so she could quickly pick us out in the crowd.

Brigitte and I with Mom in Central Park. We walked for miles that day. All the way up to a dog friendly restaurant only to be turned away, they were prepping for the dinner crowd. Hmph...upper east side. Meh.

Oh crap, we can't get this picture any bigger. (still blogging on the iPad)
We are keeping it on so hopefully you can bigify. This was the first night Sluggo came to live with us. Brigitte was not sure what to think. That's his first Piggo. He dragged that thing everywhere. Chewed the guts outta him and sucked on him til he was like a wet dishrag. Poor Piggo.

He started working his charms pretty quick, Brigitte liked him best when he was sleeping.

Here he is with the first in a series of loofah dogs. They never seem to last long.

Sluggo steals our bed....

I steal his.

One big happy family. and the rest, as they say, is history.

Hope you have a great weekend.
