A Whiptastic Time!

We have definitely been getting a little cabin fever lately. Between the weather and some nonsense about schedules, we have been totally deprived of getting our proper socialization. So I made sure Mom and Dad took us on a field trip for some whippy this past weekend.

Here is Brigitte in the car on the way hogging the center console...

So , we had to go through the drive through because all the tables were taken. I made sure Dad pulled right up close to the window, so that I could ensure our treat was properly prepared.

"Hey lady! I don't care what the humans said. We want three individual cups of whippy! We will not be sharing!"

"Hurry! Please!"

So, the cheapskates only got one cup of whippy for the three of us. They thought there would be less of a mess if they served it from their fingers! Hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!

The following is a series of pictures of us proving that they couldn't have been more wrong.

 Ha! Look at Britte's head!

"Can't quite reach that... whippy on ..the...seat..."
 "There, got it!"
"Is that whippy still on Brigitte's head?!"
"Not anymore!!!"
Good times!!!

Check Up Time

Hi Peeps, Me and Britte had out check-up visit last night. Before I share, let me tell you, it's a jungle out there! Not in the way our humans refer to the world when they here about some particularly heinous event. I'm talking tropical jungle. It has been raining here for a solid week. And aside from putting a real cramp in my "business" routine, all kinds of things are sprouting up everywhere. We went from the lovely scent of lilacs drifting into the window and delicate little leaf buds popping off their branches, to foot tall grass, and weeds everywhere.

I'll tell you, it does nothing for my complexion. Mom's been running after us with those damn cotton squares soaked in some godawful substance jamming it into our "stinky" mugs. Personally, I don't mind the stank of my mug. As soon as Mom cleans it I just search around for some dirty clothes or stinky grass to return me to my natural state.

Anyway, back to the vet. First of all, Dad had to come home early to "babysit" Sluggo. We didn't want him coming along and steal all of our attention and he has never been alone for a single moment of his life.

and Mom was afraid if she left him home alone, Mr Sadsack my escalate into a full blown nervous breakdown.

So anyways, we hop in the car and start off towards the vet. I don't mind going there cuz I get lots of treats and everyone dotes over how adorable I am. Brigitte likes the idea of meeting more people, and potentially seeing some hunky big dog.

Mom should have known better than to think we would be behaving though.
Straight outta the gate I started acting up in the car.

See me here, I flung myself down off the doggy seat in between the front and back seats. I thought it would be cool because Mom forgot her camera and she would have no proof of my antics.

I was wrong.

We arrive at the office and wait our turn.

I started to get real excited because I knew I would be costing Mom and Dad lots of green papers.

Check out my nappy deer haunches. We have been shedding like a mother lately.

I went first of course. I kinda got pissed when the scale said I had gained like a pound and a half. It was then that I decided to be totally uncooperative.
I mean, I coulda been worse, and have been in fact. But there were a few things I was not gonna let happen without a struggle. Such as looking at my bottom front teeth. Nope, didn't happen. Try again next time.
Over all though, my Dr Matz said that I was in great shape. Duh?
She said I was very spry and spunky for my age. And that my heart sounded great. They stole some blood , so we'll know how thing look inside my organs and stuff. But from the outside, I checked out fine.

Next, it was Brigitte's turn.

She said, in a show of solidarity she would not make it easy on them either. This is her hiding under the chair.

Then she defaulted to her little miss goody two paws setting after she found out she was down a pound. Brigitte checked out good as well. We have to deliver poop and pee (my pleasure) to be checked, then we should be good for a while.

On the way out, a really sweet greyhound came in. Brigitte was all over him like bacon on a cheeseburger.

One more thing from Mom...

***Hi guys, Kathy here. As usual. O got all freaky about vaccinations. They drew titers for the antibodies that they could, but Lyme and lepto are annual. Since we do live in the state where Lyme disease started, and the girls do spend time in the parks and trails, I will probably bring them back for the shots. I figure, I will see how their routine blood work comes back and then take them in. I just get so nervous, especially as they get older. What do you all do about vaccinations? Especially those of you with older pugs.

Be Smart Buckle Up

Hello people and pups!
Mom came across this campaign on the Bark Magazine website.
They have an entire site dedicated to safe pet travel. I know how much I enjoy going bye bye in the car, and I know most of you love it too.

Unfortunately, some people still drive around with their pets unrestrained. Some in the backs of their trucks even.

Here are some statistics the Bark Buckle up site quotes..

  • Unrestrained pets delay emergency workers' access to human occupants
  • A sixty pound pet becomes a 2700 poung projectile, at just 35 mph
  • Pet travel has increased 300% since 2005
  • Pets escaping post-accident pose many dangers, including catching the loose pet
  • Injured pets may bite first responders and rescue workers
  • Pets may escape through a window or open door and cause a second accident
  • Driver distraction is common when unrestrained pets are rambunctious

I don't know about you, but I don't want to be a projectile!

In addition to an opportunity to take a pledge to secure your precious cargo (that's us), they also offer a free pet safety kit.
The kit comes with a safety sticker for your car, and profile cards to put in the glove box and a bunch of other stuff.
They even take info for an emergency contact for us. Someone who could pick us up if there was ever an accident. For Mom and Dad, that person is different from their emergency contact.
For a few dollars, Mom was able to order cards for all three of us, and an extra sticker for Dad's truck.
It is getting to be vacation season.
I encourage you all to send your humas over to the site to order a kit.
Browse around, there are all kinds of travel tips and info.
There is also a blog post from a pet radio show host who was recently in an accident. Her dogs were in the car, safely restrained, and were unharmed.

Now I have been being buckled in, with plush lambswool lined seats since I was a wee pug. I happily lay back and enjoy the ride. I just like to bark every time the signal light goes on. But I think Brigitte was a free range pug in her former family. She never gives up trying to scratch, claw and plead her way into the drivers seat.

She has to be in the center.
In Dad's truck our bench sits snugly up against the back of the front seats, so Brigitte can just rest her mug on the center console contently.
But in Mom's new car there is a gap, and Brigitte has managed to fit herself right in between on the hump. While she is still connected to the seatbelt by her strap, Mom thinks there is a better solution. Any of you multiple dog homes have any suggestions?

Cannonball Wil

Duck!!!!

Hahaha, it's just a statue.
We had a visit to one of our local parks this weekend, and we fooled around on some of the monuments.

This is an old stage platform. We were thinking of putting on a pug fart symphony.

Sluggo and I got nervous when Dad and Brigitte disappeared over this hill.

Soon, my fears were allayed when Mom told me we were going for puppachino!

I didn't even wait for an invitation. Just jumped right up on the table and helped myself

Taaaasty!!

"What do you mean we have to share?"

Brigitte was enthusiastic

" Help! My tongue ain't got no chin cleaner"

"Is it my turn yet?"

"Thank you"

I hope you all had some fun this weekend!

Lots, and Lots of Valentines!!!

And according to the Opthamologist, I'll be able to see them just fine when I get back from my road trip with Roxy and Lucky.

See, before the trip, I had a visit with my eye doctor. She said everything looks good, and my eyes haven't gotten any worse since last year.
Perfect, I'll continue to see everything I need to , and I can pull the pigmenting keratitis card when I don't feel like walking down the stairs in the dark and stuff.

The best part of the trip, was a stop for secret meat.

On the way home from the vet, Mom and I had a date with the King.
The Burger King that is!

I got to have a whole burger to myself!
No sharing!

nom, nom, nom

So delicious!!!

The best part is that nobody else knows. It was just me and Mom. While the minions at home ate kibble, I feasted on M-E-A-T!

As great as it was, however, I did decide to decommission the car after that trip.
I decided that I need a more stylish ride. So a couple of days after our liaison with the King, the car bit it.
New sporty ride will be shared in a future post, once I can get my scent deep into the leather, heated seats.

Oops, just realized this isn't a very PETA friendly post, sorry. No buckets of blood please.

Anyway, like I stated in the title, Mom reports lots and lots of Valentines waiting for me and Brigitte, when we get home.
Her and Sluggo are making a Valentines tree with them.

Ours were just mailed out yesterday, so look for them to hit your mailboxes soon!

Peace out.
Wilma, the Burger Queen
