Petfinder Adopt the Internet Day

Today's post is dedicated to all the homeless pets out there who need and deserve loving homes like we are fortunate enough to have.
When I found out about petfindersAdopt the Internet Day, I decided right away to participate.

Here are the ways in which to participate ~

•Add a badge to your blog or Web site to show your support.

•Take our pledge that you will tell one person about pet adoption.

•Write about or share a pet from our gallery — or any other adoptable pet on Petfinder.

•Donate your Facebook status and photo to an adoptable Petfinder pet.

•Tweet an adoptable pet with the hash tag #adopttheinternet.

Once I understood my mission, I set out to find an adoptable pet to feature in my post.
I couldn't believe it when Mom showed me all the homeless pets that there were to choose from. How could I choose just one? Who would it be? I was very overwhelmed.
Then I found her. Her name is Gladys.

I didn't set out to fine a pug, there were many breeds, of all shapes and sizes who needed help. But something about Gladys touched me.
She is a senior, around 10 years old in fact, like me and Britte.
She has some typical "pug issues" but they say she is in overall good health.
She had some weight issues, but has slimmed down in foster care. We all can identify with that.
She loves to snuggle, and she gets carried up stairs to bed. Just like Brigitte.
Her teeth are in rough shape, but she will have a dental before adoption. They say that one snaggle tooth down in front is in good shape, so hopefully she won't lose that one.
Gladys was found wandering the streets of New York City.

So, when I came across Gladys, or Gladdy-ola, or the Gladdy-ator, among some other nick names, I thought, this old dame is pretty scrappy.
She didn't get this far in life with out being pretty tough.
If there was going to be someone out there who I might possibly be able to help, why not a special old girl like Gladys who needs someone to love her forever.
I figured if anyone knows of someone who fits the bill, it will be my friends and followers will certainly be able to hook her up. So, if you know somebody who has been thinking about adoption, or you yourself are in a position to consider taking in Gladdy, you can learn more about her here.

Love, Wilma

A CSN Giveaway to Celebrate Me!

As you may know from the subtle hints I have been throwing around, my 10th Birthday is quickly approaching. One of the things I will be doing to celebrate is giving away a gift code to CSN stores, where they have everything from corner tv stands to diaper bags.

CSN will be providing a 45.00 gift code for the winner of the giveaway. That will buy a lot of toys!

Or perhaps a shiny new collar?

I will let you know soon how the giveaway will work. If you win you will be able to shop any of the CSN stores, and that's pretty cool. I can't wait to start the celebration. Hold on, why wait?! MOOOOMMM!!!! Get me some cake!

It's a Sunflower Birthday!

Coming in just under the wire here. I can't believe I almost missed our girl Roxy, the Devil Dog's Birthday. She turned 7 today. Seven is considered to be a lucky number. Roxy also has a sister named Lucky. So the way I see it, this should be a pretty good year for her. Check out what a little cutie pie she was as a baby...

We hope you celebrate all weekend long Roxy. Live it up! Sunflower Sisters orders.

Special D From North of the Border

A package came in the mail today. It was from Winston Wilbur and his peeps. It smelled real good. Mom let me have a pass at it, but she wouldn't let me help open it. Something about there being chocolate in there.

So Mom opened the package. And just like promised, there was chocolate in there. Winston's Mom sent all of us who participated in Sweater Day in honor of Stubby a very thoughtful generous gift. This was what was inside...

See that red star chocolate? Brigitte snatched it right up when It came out of the box! Thankfully Mom was able to snatch it right back, but you shoulda seen that girl move. CHOMP!! Whole thing, right in her mouth. Unbelievable.

We put our magnet right on the fridge. Next to our calendar. March has Murphy and Duke's picture. If you look closely, you can also see a certain someone's (ahem, mine) birthday written in.

We want to say a huge thank you to Winston, Kizzy Tika and their Mom for brightening our day. Mom and Dad were using about how delicious the local Canadian chocolate was! Thanks guys! Your the best!

Not Wilma's Wednesday Words of Wisdom ~ But Almost

What is it they say? Flattery is the best form of imitation. Thanks Sluggo.

Fear not, my wisdom offerings will return. After all, in not too many days I will be turning ten. I have collected so much wisdom over those years, it would be criminal not to share.

I'm Bad

Hi folks! Brigitte here. I have hijacked the blog today in an effort to present evidence to prove that  am not this goody two shoes Wilma tried to make me out to be on Fridays post. Granted, I like to point out when unsafe (Cosequin party) or unsanitary practices (pee spots) have been perpetrated, but listen...that whole Friday night debacle is ancient history.

So, on Friday, I set out to show Miss Wilma just what a bad ass I can be.
It was our visit with Dr Erickson for acupuncture and chiropractic.
Ordinarily, I am a very well behaved, cooperative sweet girl when I go for my treatments.
Not this day!

Nope. I was a real jerk. I squirmed, and snarfed. I wiggled and jiggled.
Alls I let her do was my adjustment. That's right, no pins.

That isn't even the best part of my story though.
Guess what...
When it was Wilma's turn,
she was a total kiss up.
She nuzzled up on Dr Erickson, all kissy face and gentle. She totally cooperated with her acupuncture without kicking out any pins like she usually does. Dr says it was probably because she really needed her treatment this time. But I know different. She was trying to show me up, and also remind Dr Erikson how much she really loves her.
Here she is in the car after our appointment all pensive and reflective.

So there you have it folks.
Wilma can't be all bad all the time, just like I am not all good all the time.

Here's some pictures of the cows we visited on our way home.
