Rainbow Bridge

Yesterday was a sad day. I knew right away, because Mom's eyes were all leaky first thing.
Most of you know that our good friend Payton, lost her battle to Pug Dog Encephalitis early yesterday morning.
She did not give up with out a fight though. Not for a minute. Payton was really a miracle pug. She baffled veterinarians and specialists alike. Living nine years, overcoming what most dogs with this disease succumb to in a very short time.
She did this, I believe, due to the deep devotion, love and commitment of her family, and her own amazing zest for life.
Payton taught us a lot in our short time of knowing her. we are all better pugs because of her.

Payton came to me in a dream last night...

She wanted to let me know that she was OK. That at the bridge, she can run free, breath easy, and there are trees that have bones growing on them.

She said that Yoda was the first to greet her, and that he gave her a snack straight away.  All the friends who went to the bridge before her are there. They send messages of love to everyone.

Stubby, Lilo, Louise, Dr Zira, Payton, Yoda, Molly O'Mally and Josie

She also wanted me to tell you all that she can see everyone coming together to hold her Mom, Dad, Gammy and Gampy in their hearts right now. She said thank you from the bottom of her heart.
She said that she misses her family very much, and she feels their love all the way at the bridge. But she does not want us to stay sad for too long. She wants us to know, that she will be watching over her family and friends, and that she will always live in our hearts.

Some memories...

For Payton and Yoda, and all the friends who went before you, we miss and love you. Until we meet again

Hello friends!
I will be announcing the winner of my Stuff my Doghouse Challenge shortly. First, i need to share with you all the additional items that folks donated to the Homeward Bound Pug Rescue.

You guys, without a doubt, are some of the most generous and thoughtful friends a girl could have. You really stepped up and rose to my challenge, and for that, I thank you!

As you may know, my dear girl Payton had her comment-a-thon last week. Because of all the comments that were posted, Payton was able to get a big bag of Taste of the Wild food.
Thank you Payton! You are the awesomest!

Gracie the agility pug, gave a nice soft cuddle bed. Thanks Gracie!

Minnie and Mack gave shampoo and ear cleaner. I know that will be put to good use! Way to go guys!

Thanks to Payton's friend Christy for giving a comfy bed.

Those Slimmer pugs got a hold of their Momma plastic and each picked out something for the pugs! They got a bag of foodables, 2 nylabone wishbones, an Earthbound Shampoo and a furminator! So cool Slimmers!

I also have it on good authority that Winston, and Gen & Foo are sending something along too!

Check it out! My totally stuffed doghouse!

Can you believe it?!

There were a total of 24 participants in the challenge. we will be sending out 10 blankets, and 18 toys for the pugs. We went over to good old Random.org and plugged in the numbers to select a winner.
Before I announce the winner of the contest, I will tell you about the prize package.

First is this cute print Mom ordered online.

 She got it on Fab.com,
Fab.com is a fun site that has sales on really cool things every day. They even have special sales on Thursdays just for pets!

In addition to the print, we will be sending the winner a blanket, just like the ones we made for the rescue pups. You can see mine that I got for my birthday in this next picture.

Progress

Hello peeps and pups!!!

Stopping in for a quick update, as I only have old " Thumbs" for a few minutes.

I can't even begin to express how happy I am about all of the participation in my challenge. It has been so awesome to see how everyone pulled together to help out the Homeward Bound Pug Rescue. I will give a more detailed description of all the additional donations on a later post. But, I really wanted to show you THIS!!!

We did it!
My house is pretty stuffed, and I know there is something on its way from Winston to add to the pile! (you can't really see it, but there is a fire hydrant print blanket as a nod to the boys)

The house is stuffed with blankets that Mom made, under my supervision, of course. Plus, all those lambies!

Like I said, there have been additional items purchased for the pugs, and I want to thank our friend Payton for her Commentathon! Thanks to her generosity, those pugs are going to be showered in even more wonderful gifts.
Fear not! if you haven't been able to check out the rescues Amazon wish list, you still have time. My Birthday isn't til tomorrow. So if you would like to add something to my virtual doghouse, you still can!

I will be working with Mom to complete our package, and compose a final tally of all the items donated, along with pulling together my giveaway. So check back soon.
Thank you again, from the bottom of my impish pug heart!
Could it be that it took me almost eleven years to figure out that what they say is true? That giving actually is better than receiving?
Hmmmmmm.....

I'll have to let you know.

Stuffing It!!!!

Hi everybody!!! I'm checking in to let you know that my doghouse is getting stuffed to the gills! Everyone has been sooooo generous! I love you guys.

Pearl and Daisy sent a nice soft dog bed, and treats!

Rae, and her puggies Priscilla and Phyllis sent shampoo and treats!

Every ones pal Ruthie, sent 2 kinds of shampoo

Ruthie's friends Daisy, Belle and Roxy from Down-under Daisy sent treats and more shampoo! Those are going to be some squeaky clean pups)

Oskar and Pam sent along a really fun squeaky toy and jerky treats!

Marcia Shimer, thank you for sending 3 whole bottles of shampoo!

Everyone knows how generous those Slimmer Pugs are. Well, Momma Mindy did the sweetest thing! She sent gifts to the puggers in memory of our dearly departed Yoda!
She sent nail trimmers, 2 different kinds of puppy teethers, and one of those awesome hide a squirrel toys! Thank you so much Momma Mindy Slimmer.

Another really nice lady named Arielle donated 100 whole dollars! She saves Shar-pei's all on her own from high kill shelters in New York. When Mom helped to transport one of the dogs Arielle saved, she was happy to contribute to the Homeward Bound Rescue. Thank you so much Arielle!

Can you believe all this loot?!!!

We are also continuing to match your donations with blankets and toys. I just don't have a picture right now.
My birthday is this Sunday, so there is still time to join the challenge.
If you haven't been acknowledged for your donation, please don't be offended. Organization is not Mom's strong suit. Just give us another heads up. We don't want to miss anyone for the drawing.

Thanks again everyone. You are the best!

Farewell Dear Friend

Gone - flitted away,
Taken the stars from the night and the sun
From the day!
Gone, and a cloud in my heart.
~Alfred Tennyson

Our dear friends at The Pugs Strike Back, lost their beloved Yoda suddenly today. Please stop by and offer some words of comfort. His Momma is very sad, and missing him.

Bunk's St Patrick's Day Contest

Hi everybody! Today's post is for Bunk. He is having a contest for some really cool prizes. He had mentioned it to me  a couple of weeks ago, when I changed my header pic to Wilma O'Pug. He thought that my picture would make a great entry, and I agreed. However, that picture was taken back when I was a wee one. Before I was the big sister. How could I include Brigitte and Sluggo in the humiliation of being dressed up and flaunted all over the Internet?

So I decided to do an update. I figured I'd offer a brief photo op to capture the little leprechaun in me. Then, Brigitte and Sluggo would have to do it too!

When I say brief, I mean brief. Check out a couple of the bloopers...

Next was Britte's turn. She wasn't having it. Something about being part Mexican, not Irish like me. So she hid under the chair, and wouldn't come out.

On to Sluggo we moved. We all know how much Sluggo hates dressing up. I told him it was a magical hat, and contained treats...

Yeah, he still wasn't psyched.

Don't think Brigitte got off that easily, because she didn't. I'm still top leprechaun around these parts as sure as the Guinness will flow green on Saturday!

So there you have it, my entry celebrating St Patty's Day with Bunk!
Be sure to go over and check out the many fine contestants who's entries are posted on Bunk's Blog.

By the way, my dog house is getting more and more stuffed by the day! Thanks to all of you. I will be posting an update soon!

I hafta be sure and follow the rules, so here the are for any of you that would like to enter.

How to Enter

To enter the contest, you MUST post the following on your BLOG OR FACEBOOK.
1. Picture(s) of you wearing your BEST St.Patrick’s Day attire (BE CREATIVE!)
Furry brothers and sisters can enter as a group!
2. In less than 5 sentences telling me WHY St.Patrick’s Day is a great holiday for YOU.
3. Putting up a link to this contest page on your blog so that everyone knows you are participating!

Ahem, besides being able to make my brother and sister dress up, there are a few other reasons I like  love St Patrick's Day. Because all my family is Irish! So St. Patty's Day celebrates them. Celebrating is fun! It usually means treats, and I love treats! Make's sense doesn't it?
May the road rise to meet you,
May the winds be at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

You Guys Are Awesome!

Check out all the stuff you sent already for the Stuff my Doghouse Challenge! You guys are so awesome!

Gracie, my Grammy and Grampy, Mochi, Marshmallow and Macho, and Payton's Grampy all sent dog food! Feed those pug bellies!
In addition to food, Marshmallow, Mochi and Macho sent a playpen, shampoo, wee wee pads and wipes! You guys rock!
Payton's Grampy sent shampoo too. Those poor babies are going to need all that nice soothing gentle shampoos for their skin.
the Urban Hounds and Scarlet sent Natures Miracle. That will surely be appreciated! Plus, Scarlet sent a zebra toy.
Suzy sent a teething ring for the puppies and treats.
Pearl and The Southern Fried Pugs sent cold hard cash. We all know how important that is.

I have been busy too. We are stuffing my doghouse here too as promised for each person who donates. We have already put some toys and blankets in the doghouse, and we got some soft pretty fleece. Mom is going to make some blankets, with that fleece (pretty ambitious dontcha think?)!
Don't worry, I am supervising, so I'll make sure it happens. I will also be inspecting each one for quality.

Here is a picture of the progress so far.

Thanks to everyone for being so generous. I am not surprised, but I want you to give you huge props.  The badge in the side bar links to my original Challenge post, for those of you catching up, or signing on. Join in the challenge! Giving feels good!

Wilma's Stuff my Doghouse Challenge

Hi friends! Sorry for the absence. But I have actually been ruminating over how I want to celebrate my Birthday. Here we are, almost through the first week of March. My Birthday month. Yup, that's right, I celebrate all month. Are you really surprised? I'll be turning eleven on the 25th.
I really want to, stuff my doghouse with items for rescue. When I heard about the 32 pugs rescued in Oklahoma , I knew exactly which rescue. Please click on the above link if you have not heard this story. I will warn you that the video shows some pretty sick pugs, so if you don't want to see that, don't click.

How can we help? Here's my plan-
The folks at Homeward Bound Pug Rescue and Adoption of Oklahoma need help financially to provide care for the pugs they took in, but they also need a lot of other things. They have an Amazon wish list..
My challenge is for you go to the wish list and purchase something for the rescue, and then send a pic of it to my Mom. She will post the pics. We will then place a fleece blanket, or lambie in my doghouse for each person who makes a donation.
Hopefully by my birthday, we will have stuffed my doghouse full of items for the rescue. We will ship those items to Oklahoma with props to all my blogville friends. We will then have a drawing for all the folks who sent a pic of their donation. The winner will receive a special prize to be announced.

Please feel free to share about this challenge on your blogs. Go ahead and grab my badge as well if you like. I know many of you may have already sent something to the rescue. If you send me a picture I will include you in the challenge. Let's pull together and make a difference for these guys. Stuff that doghouse! It will make this my best birthday yet!

To review:
1. Visit the wish list.

2. Make a purchase, or a donation.

3. Send a picture or a link to what you chose. (the items go directly to the rescue, you can just send me the info/link or photo)

4. We will post a pic of your donation, with your name and/or link back to your blog if you have one.

5. For every individual that makes a donation we will place something into the doghouse.

6. At the end of the month we'll have a drawing, for a special gift to one of the contributors.

That's it!

Love,
Wilma
