Big Time Birthdays

Boy o boy have we got a slew of Birthdays to celebrate this weekend.

Our Sunflower sister Gracie from over at The Slimmer Pugs celebrates her Birthday this weekend. Be sure and go over and give her a shout.  She shares her world with four other pugs so she will delight in being in the spotlight. We hope you have a great day Gracie!

One of our newest Sunflower Sisters Minnie celebrates a birthday this weekend too. She is from over at Minnie and Macks Daily Digest. This picture is from when she was just 8 weeks old. Isn't she the sweetest?!
Happy Birthday dear Minnie.

Our next "sista"who celebrates a birthday this weekend is our pal Pip.
Here he is with one of the OS (Original Sistas) Josie.
He is the one on the right. Pip is 13 tomorrow (or thereabouts) he is a rescue.
We sure hope he has a wonderful weekend. He deserves it.

The big news this weekend is about my Great Grammy Mary.

She will turn 100 years old on Sunday!
That's like 14 in dog years.

There is a big party to celebrate all she has accomplished over the past century.
We think she is  amazing.
We love her unbelievable amounts.

Here is a big, fat, slurpy, Sluggo Birthday kiss for Gramma Mary.

Let Them Eat Cake....or not

As promised, there was cake. Lovely, isn't it?  Does anyone notice a problem?  Anything unusual?   Something wrong? It's chocolate!!!  Dogs can't eat chocolate. This was it, nothing else. No special doggie cake from the doggie bakery. No little gift bags with fancy cookies inside. Not even a liitle ham or turkey on the DL  from Uncle Jimmy. Noooooo....

They say it has something to do with this.
Note my party dress. Yeah, that's right, I'm only half dressed. It didn't fit. Apparently, I've put on a couple pounds over the winter. I'm not proud of it, but it happens. That means no cake for my own Birthday?  My people are no light weights, they could stand to shave off more than a couple of pounds. Nobody deprived them of cake. Nobody stopped them from eating little chocolate eggs.
I thought this was MY birthday.
I'm not really sure what to do about it, but I'll figure it out.
Besides that, I had a wonderful time visiting with the rest of the family.

Can you believe that? Ninety years between us and we're totally in sync We love Gramma Mary. She totally gets us.

Sluggo jumped right up to visit. He's all about the people. He doesn't even care about the cake issue. Whatever, he's one of those skinny pugs, that can eat anything and not gain weight.

I say, let out the dress, and let me enjoy some cake. Take me for an extra walk, you could use it Mom and Dad!

This is what we saw on the way home.

An Afternoon at Grandma Marys

As promised Mom and Dad took us to visit Grandma Mary on Sunday. It was a great visit. We usually do a whole run aroiund like crazy pugs number for at least the first five minutes. On Sunday, we settled right in and got to work. You see I had devised a plan with Brigitte and Sluggo ahead of time that we be especially good this day. It worked like a charm. I had Sluggo and Brigitte visit with Grandma first. I made sure to let them know to be really cute and affectionate. They're very good at that. My focus was to skulk around stalking Uncle Jimmy for treats. I went by to see Grandma, but had I gotten too cozy, they would've been on to us. That's simply too out of character for me. Grandma Mary looked great! It's hard to believe she's almost 15 in dog years. My Grammy and Grampy were there too, as well as Auntie Lynn, Uncle George and my mark, Uncle Jimmy. Sluggo started out on Grammas lap, he gave her lots of kisses. She really liked that.
While Sluggo was pouring on the charm, Brigitte was making her rounds, visiting with everyone. She even sidled up to Uncle George on the couch. Then she got really gentle and went over to settle in with Gramma for the rest of the visit. I gotta hand it to her,she was really sweet.
In the mean time, I was still working Uncle Jimmy. I got nervous for a minute that my plan may fail. He went into the room where they hide the cat food when we come over. ( They don't think I know where it goes, but my sense of smell is paramount) The door was closed and he wasn't coming back. So I waited...and waited...then finally the rewardSo overall, my plan went off without a hitch, and the people seemed to really have a nice day too. Bonus.
