Happy Birthday My Little Sluggy Bee

Sluggo at about 6 months old
Hi folks, It's Wil's Mom here today. She graciously let me sit in today so that I could post about her brother's birthday. Thanks Wil.

It was five years ago today that Sluggo came into the world. I knew of his birth as his Mom Chole was being fostered by our friend Samantha (Murphy's Mom). What I had no idea of, was that the little guy who wasn't breathing at first, would be changing our lives forever. To read all about his first weeks, click here. Murphy did a post a while back.

Sluggo on the right (I think)

You see, we had no intentions of adding a 3rd pug to the pack. We had had plenty of opportunities, but this time it was different. This lanky little, awkward, long necked giraffe of a pug cast a spell over us. Well, almost all of us. Brigitte was not too keen on the idea of having a little ball of energy around.

Why Mom?

They were soon fast friends though.

So it began, live with Sluggo, life with three pugs.

It wasn't easy at first. All of you people who say going from 2 to 3 is no big deal, you are liars. We were now out numbered!
Walks changed.
Mealtime changed, Wilma was now food aggressive.
Bully sticks and the like changed (see mealtime).
The trim on our newly remodeled kitchen changed.
Our new leather sectional changed. It became a four thousand dollar chew toy.
The lambie budget changed. This kid could destroy a stuffie in 1 minute flat!

For all those things, this little guy had charm. I had always heard that male pugs had a different temperament.
It was true. Wilma, with her aloof coolness and devilish charm was our intro to pugs.
Then came energetic, sweet. lovable Britte.

But this guy was a lover.

He loved Wilma, he loved lambies, but most of all, he loved his Mommy.
And I loved him right back.

Over the past almost 5 years that love has grown. Naturally, I can't imagine life without Sluggo.
He is the quirkiest misfit I've ever met. Allow me to discuss some of his issues.

Surface issues. Won't walk on certain surfaces. Doesn't like it when certain things are on top of other surfaces such as tables, chairs etc.

Doesn't like it if his lambies are too close to things, such as cabinets or furniture. He will cry at them until you retrieve them for him.

Doesn't like to be talked to if you are not fully visible to him. Behind a counter, coming upstairs from the cellar. He'll bark at you until you remedy this.

He is compelled to cancel out the girls pees. Even if he has come in and they do something more, he has to run out and either pee or poop directly on the area.

He has the most bizarre relationships with his lambies. Wilma has discussed some of his obsessions, such as his hierarchy. A few months back, a couple fights broke out around the lambies. We think now, it may have been Sluggo trying to rise up when Wilma was ill. We have reintroduced a few now, and things have been peaceful. Lately, Sluggo has a new compulsion around his lambies. When we settle down at night to TV or whatever, he jumps up with a fave. Right now, his loofah dog, or duckie. He likes to suckle them, and put the whole damn thing in his mouth. Now, at about 9PM every night, he pops up his head, looks around, jumps down and returns with a rope toy.
"Time to chew some rope"

I could go on and on, but I won't. I want to go spend some time with my little Sluggy Bee. We have a few surprises in store for him. We'll tell you about that later.

Oh, and one more thing. I tried to post this the other day, but the Blogpress app is f'd up again. So, you will get the Readers Digest version.

Way back when, Sluggo won one of Punchy's giveaways.
I finally got around to sending his neck measurements, so that he could have his very own bow tie!

He hated it.

He just stood there frozen for the longest time.

I think he started to like it after all the girls were swooning all over him though.

OK, one more Sluggo pic and I'm done.

Happy Birthday buddy!!!! I love you more than Wilma loves treats!

Call Charlie Sheen....I'm Winning!

You know, all these accolades could really humble a girl. Not this girl though, not for this prize!

You see, this contest was to win a copy of the new book Animals Behaving Badly, written by Linda Lombardi. She is the genius behind the blog Animals Behaving Badly.
The blog, and the book, celebrate all things bad about animals!
Who better than the baddest a** pug to win such an honor?
It didn't hurt that there were two pugs in the authors house putting the screws to their Mom to choose me!

I can't wait to check out the book and look into some of the ways in which other species are bringing their bad.
Just in case you may have forgotten about my qualifications as a bad dog, I will link to a couple of my posts to remind you.

There was the time I was a total jerk at the groomers while getting my nails did.
While I am never good for this procedure, I was particularly bad that day!

Then, there were my recent antics on the way home from the vet.

Hehe, that was funny.

Of course, there is my vacation behavior. Click here for a couple doozies.

Nevertheless, I am very honored to have been chosen as one of the recipients of this giveaway. Thanks Linda!

I'm a Featured Pet!

Featured Pet

The current Featured Pet is Wilma from Beacon Falls, CT

Well, I can't seem to get out of this font, so I am shouting out in bold, maroon print, that I am the current featured pet on Linden Lines Design!

I am pictured in my beautiful Sunflower collar, that I won in their "Caption This" contest.

Guess what! You too could be a winner. All you need to do is head on over to this months contest, and submit your own clever caption.

The hardest part about winning will be selecting from all their beautiful fabrics for your own collar!

I gotta tell you, when Brigitte woke me up to tell me about being the featured pet, I jumped out of bed, and I'm feeling better than ever!

Let's hope this carries me through when the drugs wear off!

Happy Sunday everyone!
