Wilmas Wednesday Words of Wisdom

                                                           "All you need is PUG"

I've heard the people say, "sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words". So today I will convey my message through a series of pictures. Some pugs and people you will recognize, others you won't. One thing I think you'll see in each shot is the love between pugs and there people and each other. Now, if you are reading this, I am not offering anything here that you don't already know. You can consider this weeks wisdom to be more of a public service announcement for people who may not be aware. Imagine.
I've turned to some of our friends in our meetup group to help with todays lesson. I hope you enjoy.

Yes that's Sluggo in pink. 1 of 3 little pigs

Look, I said each other as well.

Make sure to remind your people that you are all they need to be happy.
Most of them won't need reminding.

And Now Your Feature Presentation

A while back I was talking to my Auntie Diva over at Beacheats. She told me about a new blogroll that was starting up. She said it was affiliated with Foodie Blogroll . Now, quite frankly I had no idea what a blogroll was. Sounded like it could be food, ie; eggroll, swissroll, chickenroll,so I was all over it. Then she told me it was not food, but a central networking community of pet bloggers. The Pets Blogroll is all about building the best community online for pets bloggers. So,being a pug blogger (not a pet), I figured I'd check it out. Besides, if Auntie Diva knew about it, then it must be the next big thing. You see, my Auntie is like the most hip, smartest, funnest, most creative, best cooking, and best food blogging chick I know. She may not know it, but she is my diva idol.

Isn't she pretty!

So anyway, back to this blogroll thing. I went ahead and signed up and my blog was approved. This is a brand new blogroll, so I feel pretty good getting in on the ground floor. Already, since I've joined, I won a book called One Good Dog, and now I am one of the featured blogs of the week.
There are alot of horse blogs and a few cat blogs on Pets Blogroll. Their partner Foodie Blogroll has over 7500 members and this year alone they have gotten almost 1,000,000 hits(if that kind of thing is importantant to you). I think it would be a great platform for spreading Puglet and Stubby's messages as well as sharing all of your fabulous blogs with the masses .I encourage you all to check it out and sign up if  you like You can tell them Wilma sent you.

You Talkin' to Me?

Nicknames...we've all got'em. Our people are lucky we are smart. I have been called by more names, than the preverbial Carter has liver pills (whoever that is). I thought it would be interesting to share some of our nicknames with you all and you could do the same in the comment section.  I know none of you is called only by your given names, so let's hear 'em.

Naturally, we'll start with me.

Let's see, we've got Will, Wilma Meats, Vilma and Willy D.There's Grillma(you can imagine when and why they call me that) and Chillma ( that's for when I'm chillin'). They call me Vimma, Independant Wil, Liberty Roosevelt Wilhelmena ( I never come when they call me that. It's my AKC name and I know I'm in trouble if I hear that name). I think my first nickname was The Bambeast or Bambeasty, stemming from the fact that I was a little beast as a puppy(can you believe that? I wouldn't)

Next we'll move on to Brigitte

She goes by Britte (pronounced breet, for the nickname Charro gave Brigitte Neilson on another one of those hideous low brow, reality shows they like to waste their time watching), Brigitte P, Dependable B, Britte La Feet, Her Mommy's feet, Breedletons McGee ( I know, they're ridiculous aren't they? I don't know where they come up with these silly monikors) and Vigilent B. I've also heard them call her Mrs.Bambridge and Nosy B (she get's those two when she starts acting like one of those nosy old ladies in the neighborhood) I almost forgot one of my personal faves, Mrs. Nippletitz.

Lastly, we'll look at what I've heard them call Sluggo

He's Slugs, Sir Slugs Da Pugs, Col.Chiggy Bomb and Sluggy Bee ( I will embellish on the Sluggy Bee in a future post.Him and Mom have this whole wierd thing around that one) Here's a rated R nickname-The Glig. They use this nickname when he pulls this move where he's able to take his front elbow and rub his weiner with it. (This is called jiggling the glig)  Poopstick or The Poopstick is another one. Notice a trend folks? The more pugs, the more nutty the nicknames. Then there's Sly. When they call him that they'll start singing this song. It goes something like...

They call me Sluggo
They call me Sly
They call me Poopstick
And I know why

This is sung in a sort of cheerleader phrasing.

So there you have it, just a few of the favorites. So tell us, what's your nickname?

Wilma's Wednesday Words of Wisdom: Cinqo Di Mayo Edition

"La cucaracha la cucaracha na na na na na na na na..."
Sing loud!!! Whether or not you know the words!

Woo hoo! It's fiesta time! Brigitte is feeling better and I am ready to party! Tres dogulos wishing you all a  Happy Cinqo Di Mayo . No big lesson here this week, other than to celebrate every chance you get. That's why we're on our way to Emmett's house for Partypalooza 2010. We will be bringing chimichungas, nachos and margaritas  (virgin ones for Brigitte, no alcohol with antibiotics) So get ready everybody, I am going to do the mexican hat dance right through the door by nightfall!. Lets hope Sluggo loosens up. As you can see, he doesn't like dressing up. He wouldn't even put on his sombrero.
We hope you all enjoy the day, no matter what you are doing!

Ole'!!

A Little Under the Weather

Our  plans went a little kaflooie this past weekend. We were supposed to go to a meetup on Saturday but Brigitte was acting a little funny.  She was taking forever at the water dish. She was just drinking, and drinking and drinking. Other than that, she seemed to be fine. Mom got real nervous about diabetes, because that's what Moms do when we aren't right.Worry, and call the vet. So, off they went, Mom and Britte( sometimes I think she pulls this stuff just so she can have private time with the Mom). The short of it is, it looks like she has a UTI. They did some tests and are waiting for results. In the mean time, she gets some kind of pill, stuffed into what smells like pepperoni. Mom can't stop raving about
these things.Brigitte is an ace detective when it comes to taking medicine. She will detect it in cheese, peanut butter, hot dogs, you name it. With these awesome smelling pockets, it's like...GULP.

Mom and Brigitte brought home this list of emergency supplies that the vet had. We thought it would be nice to share. I know you all want to be prepared with what you need to take care of your beloved pugs, dogs and/or cats.

  • Feline/Canine nail clippers
  • Quick Stop
  • Digital thermometer
  • KY Jelly
  • Bandage Material (rolled guaze/pads & tape etc)
  • Teaspoon/tablespoon
  • Benadryl 25mg tablets
  • Karo syrup
  • Neosporin ointment
  • Eye flush
  • Hydrogen peroxide (to induce vomiting)
Please date your bottle and replace it yearly.
Call your vet for dosage.

The Farm Report~ First Edition

Introduction by Wilma:
It's finally here. The day we talked about a few weeks back. Farmer Dad stopped gardening long enough to share a few thoughts with you all. I hope you enjoy. If not, I have no problem pulling a Donald Trump on him;)
Take it away Dad!

Not much to look at right now, but with a little work, a lot of luck, and some help from Mother Nature if She's willing, it should look something like this in about a month.
This was taken sometime in June of 2008, a very good year in the garden. 2009? not so much, but we still managed to kick out the jams using my special super-secret organic soil prep regimen and maintenance program. Look, if I told you all of the details, I'd have to...well...Lets just say that it's loosely based upon one very simple principle: Feed the soil first! I spend at least 2 weeks every April making my Def Mix of nutrients: fireplace ash, used coffee grounds, kelp meal, compost, epsom salt, manure, you get the idea. Then I let it cook for about 2 weeks, turning the soil frequently. During the season, I feed regularly with fish emulsion, molasses, kelp, and compost. Pest control? We usually farm out that work to nematodes, preying mantis, and birds

On a side note, Wil usually tries to roll in the manure. I hope I didn't just blow my chance at a return appearance by saying that, but it is what it is,Willie D. Just accept it and move on, everybody's got issues, including Y.O.U. You're still the coolest in my book.
Until next time, I'll leave you all to contemplate the Grinch Pepper
Thanks for the Love,Wil. Stay Pug.

Attention Please:
There is a huge pet adoption event this weekend at the Connecticut Expo Center!!

Sluggo's Nemesis

Just like Brigitte has a girlfriend on the other side of the fence, Sluggo's arch nemesis lives behind the other fence in our yard. Sluggo goes nuts every time he hears this guy barking. They have never met mug to mug (and frankly, they won't 'cuz that guy is kind of a d*ck) but whenever he goes outside and starts barking Sluggo starts acting all tough. If we are all out at the same time, Sluggo starts going into fits at the fence. It might be kinda charming, if I didn't know that Sluggo is really a big wimp.

Check out this display...

Note me and Brigitte in the background shouting out orders. We never leftthe comfort of our bed.

Note: Mom promises not to post any more videos until she figures out what the h*ll she's doing. For whatever reason, she cant get rid of the still of Sluggy. Whatever, hire a pro.
