Time for an Intervention

So, I had a request from my Dad to lighten up on the blog content. He said he was thinking about not reading anymore.

I definitely agreed that we all could use a good laugh, however my current subject matter is kinda serious. Somehow, I think he'll enjoy it just the same.

Many of you are aware of Brigitte's, eh hem, problem. If not, well, here's the deal...... She eats poop. Not any poop, just her own, but, it's really gross. She's been coming up with all kinds of sneaky ways to snag it up too. As gross as it is, I won't say that I haven't enjoyed seeing mom and/or Dad running around the back yard in their pj's or even less, screaming "Brigitte!!!!!!!! Nooooooooo!!!!!!!!"

We have decided as a family, that it is time for an intervention. We have contacted Jeff Van Vonderen of the TV show Intervention and he has agreed to help.

Since Brigitte is so busy scheming how to eat poop, she won't be reading the blog. So if any of you would like to attend the intervention, please leave a testimonial depicting how Brigitte's poop eating has affected your life in a negative way in the comment section. Or you can discuss how Brigitte has changed since she has become addicted to poop. we will include you in the intervention which will be held in some random hotel, sometime within the next week or so. Please don't tell her of our plan.

Hi There!

Hi everybody! Remember me? Wilma the Pug? Yeah, I know, I have been conspicuously absent around blogville. I am trying not to get mad at old Thumbs, since she has been kinda busy, trying to help her Uncle, and his cat through some life transitions. I haven't met this cat, but I have smelled him, and seen photos. He seems kinda nice. His name is Ringo.

Pretty cute huh?
Anyway, I convinced Mom to slow down long enough to help me share some Sunflower Sister business.
Many of you may have heard about Winston's idea to plant some pink flowers in memory of our friend Payton. Well, I sent mom out to find some pretty flowers for the task, and look what she found!

Strawberry Blonde Sunflower seeds. The petals grow into a pretty pink color! I checked them out...

and I approve! Our sunflower garden will be pink this year to honor our Sunflower Sister Payton.

I think she would like that.
We are also looking for something special to plant for Yoda. Maybe something red for his Red Wings, and the Fire Hydrant Club. Do you think fire hydrant and sunflower club flowers could grow together?

Oh, one more thing...

It's my half brother Pablo's Birthday today! He turns eleven today, just like I did a couple of weeks ago. Our dad must have been very busy back then. Some might even call him a slut!

Go on over, and wish Pablo a Happy Birthday. He looks great! Must be the good stock he comes from!

Rainbow Bridge

Yesterday was a sad day. I knew right away, because Mom's eyes were all leaky first thing.
Most of you know that our good friend Payton, lost her battle to Pug Dog Encephalitis early yesterday morning.
She did not give up with out a fight though. Not for a minute. Payton was really a miracle pug. She baffled veterinarians and specialists alike. Living nine years, overcoming what most dogs with this disease succumb to in a very short time.
She did this, I believe, due to the deep devotion, love and commitment of her family, and her own amazing zest for life.
Payton taught us a lot in our short time of knowing her. we are all better pugs because of her.

Payton came to me in a dream last night...

She wanted to let me know that she was OK. That at the bridge, she can run free, breath easy, and there are trees that have bones growing on them.

She said that Yoda was the first to greet her, and that he gave her a snack straight away.  All the friends who went to the bridge before her are there. They send messages of love to everyone.

Stubby, Lilo, Louise, Dr Zira, Payton, Yoda, Molly O'Mally and Josie

She also wanted me to tell you all that she can see everyone coming together to hold her Mom, Dad, Gammy and Gampy in their hearts right now. She said thank you from the bottom of her heart.
She said that she misses her family very much, and she feels their love all the way at the bridge. But she does not want us to stay sad for too long. She wants us to know, that she will be watching over her family and friends, and that she will always live in our hearts.

Some memories...

For Payton and Yoda, and all the friends who went before you, we miss and love you. Until we meet again

Hello friends!
I will be announcing the winner of my Stuff my Doghouse Challenge shortly. First, i need to share with you all the additional items that folks donated to the Homeward Bound Pug Rescue.

You guys, without a doubt, are some of the most generous and thoughtful friends a girl could have. You really stepped up and rose to my challenge, and for that, I thank you!

As you may know, my dear girl Payton had her comment-a-thon last week. Because of all the comments that were posted, Payton was able to get a big bag of Taste of the Wild food.
Thank you Payton! You are the awesomest!

Gracie the agility pug, gave a nice soft cuddle bed. Thanks Gracie!

Minnie and Mack gave shampoo and ear cleaner. I know that will be put to good use! Way to go guys!

Thanks to Payton's friend Christy for giving a comfy bed.

Those Slimmer pugs got a hold of their Momma plastic and each picked out something for the pugs! They got a bag of foodables, 2 nylabone wishbones, an Earthbound Shampoo and a furminator! So cool Slimmers!

I also have it on good authority that Winston, and Gen & Foo are sending something along too!

Check it out! My totally stuffed doghouse!

Can you believe it?!

There were a total of 24 participants in the challenge. we will be sending out 10 blankets, and 18 toys for the pugs. We went over to good old Random.org and plugged in the numbers to select a winner.
Before I announce the winner of the contest, I will tell you about the prize package.

First is this cute print Mom ordered online.

 She got it on Fab.com,
Fab.com is a fun site that has sales on really cool things every day. They even have special sales on Thursdays just for pets!

In addition to the print, we will be sending the winner a blanket, just like the ones we made for the rescue pups. You can see mine that I got for my birthday in this next picture.

Lastly, the winner will receive a 15.00 gift certificate to Pugs in the Kitchen, to get themselves some delicious treats.

Soooooooo..... without further adieu', the winner of the Wilma the Pug Stuff my Doghouse Challenge is....

Progress

Hello peeps and pups!!!

Stopping in for a quick update, as I only have old " Thumbs" for a few minutes.

I can't even begin to express how happy I am about all of the participation in my challenge. It has been so awesome to see how everyone pulled together to help out the Homeward Bound Pug Rescue. I will give a more detailed description of all the additional donations on a later post. But, I really wanted to show you THIS!!!

We did it!
My house is pretty stuffed, and I know there is something on its way from Winston to add to the pile! (you can't really see it, but there is a fire hydrant print blanket as a nod to the boys)

The house is stuffed with blankets that Mom made, under my supervision, of course. Plus, all those lambies!

Like I said, there have been additional items purchased for the pugs, and I want to thank our friend Payton for her Commentathon! Thanks to her generosity, those pugs are going to be showered in even more wonderful gifts.
Fear not! if you haven't been able to check out the rescues Amazon wish list, you still have time. My Birthday isn't til tomorrow. So if you would like to add something to my virtual doghouse, you still can!

I will be working with Mom to complete our package, and compose a final tally of all the items donated, along with pulling together my giveaway. So check back soon.
Thank you again, from the bottom of my impish pug heart!
Could it be that it took me almost eleven years to figure out that what they say is true? That giving actually is better than receiving?
Hmmmmmm.....

I'll have to let you know.

Stuffing It!!!!

Hi everybody!!! I'm checking in to let you know that my doghouse is getting stuffed to the gills! Everyone has been sooooo generous! I love you guys.

Pearl and Daisy sent a nice soft dog bed, and treats!

Rae, and her puggies Priscilla and Phyllis sent shampoo and treats!

Every ones pal Ruthie, sent 2 kinds of shampoo

Ruthie's friends Daisy, Belle and Roxy from Down-under Daisy sent treats and more shampoo! Those are going to be some squeaky clean pups)

Oskar and Pam sent along a really fun squeaky toy and jerky treats!

Marcia Shimer, thank you for sending 3 whole bottles of shampoo!

Everyone knows how generous those Slimmer Pugs are. Well, Momma Mindy did the sweetest thing! She sent gifts to the puggers in memory of our dearly departed Yoda!
She sent nail trimmers, 2 different kinds of puppy teethers, and one of those awesome hide a squirrel toys! Thank you so much Momma Mindy Slimmer.

Another really nice lady named Arielle donated 100 whole dollars! She saves Shar-pei's all on her own from high kill shelters in New York. When Mom helped to transport one of the dogs Arielle saved, she was happy to contribute to the Homeward Bound Rescue. Thank you so much Arielle!

Can you believe all this loot?!!!

We are also continuing to match your donations with blankets and toys. I just don't have a picture right now.
My birthday is this Sunday, so there is still time to join the challenge.
If you haven't been acknowledged for your donation, please don't be offended. Organization is not Mom's strong suit. Just give us another heads up. We don't want to miss anyone for the drawing.

Thanks again everyone. You are the best!

Farewell Dear Friend

Gone - flitted away,
Taken the stars from the night and the sun
From the day!
Gone, and a cloud in my heart.
~Alfred Tennyson

Our dear friends at The Pugs Strike Back, lost their beloved Yoda suddenly today. Please stop by and offer some words of comfort. His Momma is very sad, and missing him.
