Petfinder Adopt the Internet Day

Today's post is dedicated to all the homeless pets out there who need and deserve loving homes like we are fortunate enough to have.
When I found out about petfindersAdopt the Internet Day, I decided right away to participate.

Here are the ways in which to participate ~

•Add a badge to your blog or Web site to show your support.

•Take our pledge that you will tell one person about pet adoption.

•Write about or share a pet from our gallery — or any other adoptable pet on Petfinder.

•Donate your Facebook status and photo to an adoptable Petfinder pet.

•Tweet an adoptable pet with the hash tag #adopttheinternet.

Once I understood my mission, I set out to find an adoptable pet to feature in my post.
I couldn't believe it when Mom showed me all the homeless pets that there were to choose from. How could I choose just one? Who would it be? I was very overwhelmed.
Then I found her. Her name is Gladys.

I didn't set out to fine a pug, there were many breeds, of all shapes and sizes who needed help. But something about Gladys touched me.
She is a senior, around 10 years old in fact, like me and Britte.
She has some typical "pug issues" but they say she is in overall good health.
She had some weight issues, but has slimmed down in foster care. We all can identify with that.
She loves to snuggle, and she gets carried up stairs to bed. Just like Brigitte.
Her teeth are in rough shape, but she will have a dental before adoption. They say that one snaggle tooth down in front is in good shape, so hopefully she won't lose that one.
Gladys was found wandering the streets of New York City.

So, when I came across Gladys, or Gladdy-ola, or the Gladdy-ator, among some other nick names, I thought, this old dame is pretty scrappy.
She didn't get this far in life with out being pretty tough.
If there was going to be someone out there who I might possibly be able to help, why not a special old girl like Gladys who needs someone to love her forever.
I figured if anyone knows of someone who fits the bill, it will be my friends and followers will certainly be able to hook her up. So, if you know somebody who has been thinking about adoption, or you yourself are in a position to consider taking in Gladdy, you can learn more about her here.

Love, Wilma

  1. Oh Wilma! this is such a wonderfuls idea! I am gonna gets mum to post a badge on my blog and facebooks page. Gladys sure is cutes. I wish we could adopt hers but we are all the way over heres so far aways from her.

Mum says that my feline sisters were adopted. They came from a farm that was run by bikers. They were from a family of 10 kittens and two mothers and were in pretty yucky shape when the cat clinic took them ins. Thanks goodness Mum adopted thems.

  3. We regularly foster homeless dogs through a local rescuge group. Some are owner surrendered, some are rescued rejects from puppy mills. It is so heartbreaking the conditions many of these dogs are in when they enter the rescue, and their stories are worse.
Why do we do it? It's one less dog in a shelter, being euthanised or being bred to death in a puppy mill. All these dogs get adopted eventually.
